Newsec Infra acted as exclusive financial advisor to global renewable energy company BayWa r.e. on the successful sale of the 62 MW Furuby wind farm in Sweden to ERG, one of the leading energy groups and wind farm operators in Europe.
BayWa r.e. will stay involved in the project, providing support during both construction and operation. Once the Furuby wind farm is operational, by the end of 2022, BayWa r.e. will provide ongoing asset management services.
The acquisition of the Furuby wind farm marks ERG’s first wind investment in the Nordics.
Håkan Wallin, CEO at BayWa r.e. Nordic AB commented:
“We’re delighted to finalise the sale of the Furuby wind farm to ERG, who like us, has electricity production from renewable and sustainable sources at the heart of their business. We are looking forward to building on this new relationship with ERG and working with them to drive forward the energy transition in Europe”
Omid Ashrafi, Managing Partner at Newsec Infra commented:
“The transaction is our first sell-side mandate for BayWa r.e., after having been on the sell-side in their first project acquisition in Sweden some years ago. We are very happy for the vote of confidence supporting BayWa r.e. on this sale and to be part of ERG’s Nordic market entry. It is exciting to welcome ERG – one of the leading energy groups and wind farm operators in Europe – to the Nordic market”
