Newsec Energy Transition advises ib vogt on the sale of a 50 MW battery energy storage project to Renewable Power Capital

Newsec Energy Transition is delighted to have acted as exclusive financial advisor to international solar developer and IPP ib vogt on its sale of a 50 MW battery energy storage project to Renewable Power Capital. The project is located in Kalanti, Uusikaupunki, in South-West Finland and is ready to be built, where it will be one of the largest of its kind in Finland.

With a planned commercial operations start date in Q3 2025, the project is expected to be one of the larger battery energy storage projects to come online in Finland, marking this transaction as a big step forward in energy transition in the Nordics. It is also the first battery energy storage developed by ib vogt that is successfully divested.

Commenting on the sale, Hamish Duncan, Head of Project Sales at ib vogt said:

“We are very excited to have concluded our first BESS transaction in the Nordics with Renewable Power Capital and to support the energy transition in the Finland. We are happy to have partnered with the Newsec Energy Transition team in yet another transaction and thank them for their efforts and pragmatic approach in working towards a successful closing.”

Omid Ashrafi, Managing Partner at Newsec Energy Transition commented:

“We are delighted to collaborate with ib vogt yet again in another sales process and to successfully conclude the transaction with Renewable Power Capital. This transaction not only marks ib vogt’s first battery project divestment in the Nordics but also Newsec Energy Transition’s first BESS transaction, signaling the diversification of the energy technologies in the region.”
